My Journey at Princethorpe College: A Tale of Growth, Development, and Success
Reflecting on my time at Princethorpe College, the words that come to mind are growth, development, and success. My admission into Princethorpe was a decision rooted in my parents' dedication to providing an environment where my energetic and passionate nature could be channelled positively, focusing on the best educational opportunities available. My parents worked tirelessly to enrol me into Princethorpe, prioritising my future above all else, and for that I remain eternally grateful.
My initial years at Princethorpe were marked by significant achievements in sports. I excelled in Rugby, Cricket, and Ice Hockey, participating at county and regional levels and earning a place in the Leicester Tigers Youth Academy. This success was undoubtedly a product of the ambitious environment fostered at Princethorpe. My development during this period extended beyond the sports field, as my attitude and personality matured in alignment with the College's ethos.
At the age of 15, my life took a tragic turn when my father unexpectedly passed away from a heart attack. This event was a profound shock to me, my family, and the Princethorpe community, where my father had been a beloved figure. The support provided by the school during this difficult time and throughout my remaining years at Princethorpe was extraordinary. Financial constraints threatened to cut short my time at the College, but the bursary fund enabled me to complete my education there, honouring my father's dreams for me and paving the way for a successful future.
This period became a pivotal moment in my life. In the aftermath of my father's death, I immersed myself in academic pursuits, achieving excellent IGCSE and A-level results. My journey after leaving Princethorpe saw me pursue a university degree in Sports Coaching Science in Disability Sport, followed by a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Management.
The ambitious spirit instilled in me at Princethorpe has led me to an exciting and adventurous life in China. As the Director of Sport at Wellington College in Hangzhou, I now implement the holistic approach to student development that was central to my Princethorpe experience. The opportunities and support provided by the bursary fund during my later school years have inspired me to dedicate my life to empowering the next generation. I am on the brink of completing my Senior Leadership Qualification (NPQSL) and am eager to further influence international education, helping young people achieve their goals with the same opportunities, skills, and ambition I was afforded.
Princethorpe College is a special place, filled with extraordinary people and unforgettable memories. My heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who made my journey possible, and I hope that many more young people will have the opportunity to experience and benefit from this extraordinary environment as much as I have! Your support of the Bursary Fund, even £10 a month, can unlock such opportunities for future pupils; please consider getting involved.
Many thanks,
Clark
