A Donor's Story

Why I Give: A Donor's Perspective

As a former parent of Princethorpe College, my journey with them began when my sons, Tom and Charlie, enrolled. From the moment they started, I witnessed firsthand the exceptional care and dedication of the staff, who not only nurtured their academic growth but also fostered their personal development.

Princethorpe to me stands out as more than just a school; it's a community that values integrity, excellence, and inclusivity. The strong ethos and supportive environment provided Tom and Charlie with a foundation that has served them well beyond their time here. They emerged as confident young men, equipped not only with knowledge but also with resilience and empathy—qualities that are crucial in today's world.

A significant part of their Princethorpe experience was their involvement in sports. Tom particularly enjoyed rugby and cricket, while both boys were active in theatre studies. While neither were strong academically in a traditional sense, it was through sports and extra-curricular activities that they found their confidence and a sense of achievement. Princethorpe’s emphasis on nurturing talents beyond the classroom played a pivotal role in their development. The school's dedication to providing a broad range of sporting opportunities allowed Tom and Charlie to excel and find their passions, contributing to their overall success and self-esteem.

My decision to give monthly to the Annual Fund Bursary is deeply rooted in gratitude for what Princethorpe has done for my family. Education is the cornerstone of opportunity, and every pupil deserves access to a quality education, regardless of financial circumstances. By supporting the Annual Fund Bursary, I feel that I am helping to break down barriers and ensure that talented children, who might not otherwise have the means, can benefit from the same transformative experience.

Princethorpe's commitment to holistic education is truly commendable. The curriculum not only challenges pupils academically but also encourages them to explore their interests and passions outside of the classroom. From arts to sports, the opportunities for growth and exploration are abundant, enriching the educational journey and preparing pupils for a future of limitless possibilities.

Beyond academics, it is clear that Princethorpe places a strong emphasis on character development and values-based education. The emphasis on integrity, respect, and responsibility instils a sense of purpose and prepares their pupils to become responsible people in their communities.

I am continually impressed by Princethorpe's dedication to innovation and improvement. The recent addition of the state-of-the-art Science Centre exemplifies the school's commitment to providing cutting-edge facilities that enhance learning and inspire curiosity.

In light of the expected increase in costs associated with the removal of business rate relief and the addition of VAT onto school fees, to me, it is more important than ever to support each of the schools within the Foundation. These financial challenges underscore the critical need for ongoing support to maintain the high standards and accessibility of a Princethorpe education.

As someone who donates to the school, I take pride in knowing that my contributions directly impact the lives of pupils and contribute to the continued success of Princethorpe College.

I encourage fellow alumni, parents, and friends of Princethorpe to join me in supporting the Annual Fund Bursary or other projects that you feel important.
